Why this role exists

At Revive, we are not just renovating homes — we are unlocking value at scale. Our projects are complex, capital-intensive, and time-sensitive, often exceeding $500K to $1M+ in scope. The difference between a successful project and a failed one comes down to execution: permits, plans, contractors, and the ability to move quickly when things get stuck.

The Director of Construction role exists to ensure that execution happens with clarity, speed, and discipline. This role is responsible for unblocking projects, navigating permitting and planning challenges, and ensuring construction moves forward without unnecessary delay. You will operate at the center of high-value projects, making decisions that directly impact timelines, costs, and outcomes.

What you will do
  • Own the execution and progression of complex residential construction projects from pre-construction through completion
  • Unblock stalled or delayed projects by resolving permitting issues, contractor challenges, scope gaps, or planning constraints
  • Review construction plans, scopes of work, and specifications to ensure feasibility, completeness, and alignment with project objectives
  • Navigate permitting processes across jurisdictions, ensuring projects move efficiently through approvals and inspections
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, and internal teams to align execution and remove bottlenecks
  • Evaluate project risks related to scope, budget, timeline, and construction feasibility, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure projects are structured correctly before construction begins, including scope clarity, material readiness, and contractor alignment
  • Drive accountability across all parties involved in construction execution, including General Contractors and internal teams
  • Establish and maintain standards for construction execution, documentation, and project readiness
  • Provide field-level insight and decision-making on construction issues, including sequencing, constructability, and problem resolution
  • Support Owner Representatives by resolving construction blockers and ensuring projects stay on track
  • Identify systemic issues across projects and implement process improvements to increase execution speed and reliability
  • Maintain visibility across active projects and intervene where execution risk is highest

Who you are
  • You have deep experience in residential construction and understand how projects actually get built
  • You can read plans, scopes, and specifications and quickly identify issues or gaps
  • You understand permitting, inspections, and how to move projects through city processes
  • You are decisive and comfortable making judgment calls that impact cost and timelines
  • You are not afraid to step in and solve problems directly when projects stall
  • You communicate clearly with contractors, engineers, and internal teams
  • You operate with urgency and understand the cost of delays
  • You take ownership of outcomes, not just responsibilities

Qualifications
  • 7–12+ years of experience in residential construction, general contracting, or construction management
  • Strong experience with permitting, plans, and construction execution
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, scopes of work, and construction documents
  • Experience managing or overseeing large-scale renovation or construction projects ($500K+)
  • Proven ability to resolve construction issues, delays, and field challenges
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, materials, and contractor coordination
  • Experience working with General Contractors, subcontractors, and permitting authorities
  • California construction experience strongly preferred
  • Contractor’s license (preferred but not required)
