Job Summary:

As the Director of Construction, you will ultimately be responsible for leading construction operations, driving operational and financial performance, and developing high-performing teams across multiple markets. You will partner with executive leadership to establish strategic operational plans, oversee construction execution, and deliver exceptional service to customers. As the Director of Construction, your customers are executive leadership, project management teams, field operations, and telecommunications clients, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through operational excellence, strategic leadership, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Lead the Construction Division to achieve profitability by meeting operational and financial goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement strategic operational plans to support business growth and organizational success
  • Establish, monitor, and improve operational processes, performance metrics, and reporting systems
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecast operational requirements, analyze financial variances, and implement corrective actions
  • Provide executive leadership with regular reports on financial performance, operational metrics, team performance, and industry trends
  • Review operational reports and implement process improvements where necessary
  • Recruit, develop, and manage department leaders while delegating responsibilities to support organizational growth
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to strengthen operational infrastructure, systems, and workforce planning
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop high-performing management teams through effective communication, performance management, and professional development
  • Foster a safe, engaging, accountable, and high-performance work environment
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with department managers to establish goals, review progress, and support continuous development
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues within assigned markets or regions
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as business needs require
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Valid driver's license

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of construction and/or engineering experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership or management experience
  • Experience managing construction teams across multiple states
  • Experience managing large-scale telecommunications construction projects from planning through completion
  • Experience managing Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) construction projects

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to build, develop, and motivate high-performing teams
  • Excellent conflict resolution, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong financial acumen, budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning experience
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent customer relationship management and commitment to delivering White Glove Service
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to develop practical business solutions
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining operational excellence
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as business needs require

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Experience managing relationships with government agencies, municipalities, utility providers, and telecommunications clients
  • Experience leading large multi-market telecommunications construction organizations

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel domestically as business needs require
  • Ability to visit active construction sites and office locations
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and navigate active construction environments for extended periods
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends, when required
  • Ability to work in both office and outdoor construction environments under varying weather conditions
