JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Community Development is responsible for overseeing the engineering, planning, development and building activity in the city and it's ETJ. The position provides and supervises professional and technical services to the City Council, city management, Planning Commission, developers, builders and general public regarding planning, platting, building and general development matters. The position is established by ordinance and certain specific duties are described for the Director in the code of ordinances.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in urban affairs, urban planning, public administration, civil engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent level of related experience is required. A master's degree or registration as a professional engineer in the State of Texas is preferred. Five years of experience in a professional planning, city administration, or related field or three years of administrative and supervisory experience.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid and current Texas Class "C" driver's license or higher.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
