Clayton Services is searching for a Director of Commercial Business Development to join a thriving industrial services company in theFort Worth or Houston area. The Director of Commercial Business Development will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic client relationships, and expanding market presence within the hydraulic and fluid power industries.

Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $140,000 - $165,000/year plus commission

Director of Commercial Business Development Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to grow revenue from $10M to $20M+ annually
  • Expand commercial sales efforts beyond legacy government/Navy contracts into oil & gas and industrial markets
  • Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities within hydraulic and fluid power industries
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of commercial clients and long-term customer relationships
  • Lead CRM selection, implementation, and optimization from the ground up
  • Establish scalable sales processes and define performance metrics for long-term growth
  • Negotiate and manage large-scale service and repair contracts aligned with profitability goals
  • Mentor and develop existing sales staff to improve performance and contract management capabilities
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align business development strategy with company objectives
  • Travel within assigned territory to meet with clients and support business development efforts
  • Support expansion into new geographic markets including Texas and future growth regions

Director of Commercial Business Development Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, and repair services
  • Proven ability to build and grow commercial business in industrial or oil & gas markets
  • Experience implementing and managing CRM systems and sales processes
  • High-level negotiation and contract management skills
  • Ability to operate independently while building and scaling a sales function
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strategic thinker with a long-term growth mindset

Director of Commercial Business Development Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in business development or sales within hydraulics, fluid power, or industrial equipment industries
  • Experience managing large client accounts and complex sales cycles
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and expanding market presence
  • Experience within oil & gas or industrial service markets preferred
