DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Director of Clinical Operations, Surgical Services at Harborview Medical Center provides leadership for safe, high-quality, and efficient perioperative care within the Main Operating Rooms of a Level 1 Trauma and Verified Burn Center. This role oversees a complex, high-acuity environment operating 24/7 and is responsible for the integrated management of Operating Rooms, Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACU), Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM), and Anesthesia Technologists. In partnership with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical leaders, the Director drives patient flow, optimizes surgical throughput, and ensures compliance with regulatory and clinical standards.
The position is accountable for operational performance, including staffing alignment, clinical documentation integrity, use of surgical scheduling systems, and data-driven quality and performance improvement, while fostering a culture of patient safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across Surgical Services.
