Director of Clinical FP&A

Our client, a clinical?stage biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Director of Clinical FP&A to support its growing portfolio of development programs. 

Location:
This position follows a hybrid on?site model in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Job Description: 
The company is rapidly expanding its clinical footprint across multiple therapeutic areas and requires a seasoned finance leader to drive forecasting, analysis, and strategic financial decision?making. This role offers the opportunity to influence clinical strategy, partner with senior R&D and clinical leaders, and support the financial operations of a complex, multi?program pipeline.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead development and management of financial models for clinical programs, including budgeting, forecasting, and long?range planning
  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to Clinical leaders, providing insights to inform strategy, resource allocation, and prioritization
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis of clinical trial costs, variances, and performance, delivering actionable reporting to senior leadership
  • Support implementation of new clinical forecasting and analytics tools, enabling standardized metrics, scenario modeling, and portfolio insights
  • Collaborate cross?functionally with Clinical Operations, R&D, Accounting, Outsourcing, and other partners to ensure alignment between trial design, operational plans, and financial expectations
  • Advance financial processes by improving reporting accuracy, enhancing planning tools, and standardizing workflows related to clinical development
  • Monitor and assess financial risks associated with clinical programs and support mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements
  • Provide leadership to team members, promote best practices, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline (MBA or CPA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive FP&A experience, including substantial exposure to clinical development or biotech/pharma environments
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario?analysis capability
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior clinical or R&D leaders in a fast?paced setting
  • Proven people?leadership skills with the ability to guide and develop team members
