Duties

  • Responsible for the quality and quantity of all work performed by Buildings & Grounds staff and all others to whom work has been assigned or contracted within the area of the school.
  • Monitor and reinforce all fire and safety regulations to ensure that the building is protected from fire and hazards.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain the annual Building & Grounds budget.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Construction advise the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services on technical elements of alterations to existing facilities.
  • Oversee ongoing, long range, and preventive maintenance plans and programs for sites, buildings and equipment, including grounds keeping and custodial services.
  • Coordinate the updates to the District''s facilities master plan, working closely with the Director of Construction on sources and use of funds, status, and schedule of construction and phasing of projects; monitors school facility legislation.
  • Responsible for developing, monitoring and ensuring implementation of the District''s sustainability energy practices, pursuant to approved policy and guidelines.
  • Establish appropriate training programs for all assigned personnel.
  • Complete an annual performance evaluation for each person under his/her supervision.
  • Administer tests, reviews applications and hires new employees.
  • Coordinate vacation schedules for departmental personnel.
  • Prepare specifications for contract maintenance work such as elevator maintenance, landscape and security.
  • Work with the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and Director of Construction on Life Safety and building renovations.
  • Serve on appropriate committees such as Facilities, Life Safety, custodial and maintenance negotiating, and Labor Relations committee, and others as assigned by the Administration.
  • Implement procedures for energy conservation including evaluating and recommending contracts to purchase natural gas and electric power.
  • Develop and balance custodial and maintenance work schedules.
  • Perform the appropriate duties provided by any policy of the Board and such other duties as are directed by the CSBO.

Qualifications

  • A college degree with courses in building maintenance preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in facility management, maintenance, construction or other related fields including at least two years supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of building custodial and maintenance operations.
  • Experience in the construction industry and/or knowledge of engineering principles preferred.
  • Understanding of operation of building and grounds equipment, including HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle administrative responsibility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students and community.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning, organizing and directing.
  • Demonstrated skill in employee supervision and preparation of written employee evaluations.
  • Knowledge of computer applications for budgeting, preventive maintenance and energy management systems.

Salary/Benefits

$130,000.00 - 155,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience.
