The purpose of this position is to provide psychological services to adults, children, adolescents, and families; as well as maintain the operations and full scope of duties as the administrator of the Behavioral Health department. Job Announcement Flyer: Director of Behavioral Health5.20.2026.pdf [pdf - 384.39 KB] Duties: Clinical Responsibilities (40%) Provide behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapy services (individual, group, family, and couples) through in-person and telehealth modalities. Maintain an active caseload of patients across the lifespan. Lead interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and provide consultation to clinical, medical, and community partners. Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation, treatment planning, and patient record management. Coordinate care with Tribal programs, courts, social services, schools, and community agencies. Provide culturally responsive clinical services, case consultation, and case management recommendations. Serve as clinical supervisor for licensed and provisionally licensed clinicians, including off-site behavioral health services. Oversee behavioral health triage services, crisis response activities, and consultation requests. Participate in emergency response activities, including behavioral health crisis interventions and facility emergency codes. Maintain professional competency through continuing education, training, and professional development. Administrative Responsibilities (60%) Direct and oversee behavioral health operations, personnel, contracts, programs, and service delivery. Monitor departmental productivity, staffing needs, and service capacity to ensure operational effectiveness. Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, competencies, treatment protocols, and regulatory compliance standards. Ensure compliance with AAAHC accreditation requirements, federal regulations, credentialing standards, and organizational policies. Lead departmental quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, performance evaluations, and clinical audits. Serve as a member of executive leadership, medical staff, quality, safety, and other organizational committees. Manage departmental budgets, grants, contracts, expenditures, and resource allocation. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to enhance behavioral health services and community partnerships. Provide staff training, professional development, and subject matter expertise in behavioral health integration, crisis management, pain management, addiction treatment, and controlled substance oversight. Oversee patient grievance resolution, incident reporting, service recovery efforts, and departmental performance reporting. Analyze operational and productivity data to improve clinic flow, staffing, Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Psychology from an accredited program, including completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral training. Current unrestricted Clinical Psychologist license in New Mexico, or eligibility to obtain New Mexico licensure within one year of hire. Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience providing psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Minimum five (5) years of leadership or supervisory experience in an integrated behavioral health or healthcare setting. Knowledge of evidence-based psychotherapy modalities, psychological assessment, and diagnosis across the lifespan. Understanding of cultural diversity, professional ethics, and mandatory reporting requirements, including the Indian Child Protection Act. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Strong communication, leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Native American communities and Tribal health programs. Knowledge of Native American cultural, historical, and social factors impacting behavioral health. Experience working within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
