General Description:
Oversee the development and direction of the interscholastic and intramural athletic programs of all schools within the Proviso Township High Schools District 209.
The Athletic Director supervises and evaluates the athletics administrative assistant, activities coordinator, coaches, trainers, and athletic support personnel. The Athletics Director establishes a clear vision of excellence and ensures a quality, comprehensive, and equitable program of cocurricular athletics through authentic student, parent, staff, and community engagement.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, the candidate must possess the following required education, certification, skills, experience and/or qualifications. Employees are responsible for obtaining/retaining the most current statutory and administrative rule requirements for their position.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution.
Licensure:
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
Endorsement:
General Administrative endorsement
Must possess or be able to receive coaching certification in accordance with Illinois High School Association (IHSA) policy
Valid CPR certificate
Valid Advanced First Aid certificate
Experience:
Previous successful athletic administrator, preferred
Previous successful school administrative experience, preferred
Previous experience as a head coach or an assistant coach of a high school/ collegiate athletic program
Experience managing a budget, generating and providing reports
Collaborative leadership experience
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak publicly to groups and media
Technology Competency:
athletic scheduling, using scheduling software
development and maintenance of websites and social media accounts
develop effective multimedia presentations and tools for parents, students, and staff
Effective project management, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Perform written and verbal and presentations as necessary
Ability to represent student and district needs in a positive and professional manner
Deep understanding of program improvement and use of data in supporting and facilitating change.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding high school athletics.
Ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board's policy on evaluation of personnel. All evaluations shall comply with State and Federal law.

The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet/moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with the other staff. The employee is directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
Position Goals:
Annually the employee, in consultation with the supervisor, shall develop the employee's goals for the forthcoming year, which shall be set forth in the annual evaluation document. In the event that the employee and supervisor fail to agree on the goals to be included in said document, the supervisor shall establish the goals.
