Ryan Companies is looking for anorganized, innovative,collaborative,and forward-thinking individual who aims for the highest standards of excellence.The ideal candidatewill be abletogenerate opportunities throughinternal andexternal clients while leading the local design team and managing the P+L for all design revenue in the region.In addition, the Director of Architecture willcollaborate with RyanA+E Housing leaders,developers, builders,designers,and other partners within our integrated services within theWest Division.
Candidateswithat least15+years ofleadershipexperience are most likely to besuccessful;however,those with unique career experience or display clear potential for the role will be considered.In addition, we are searching for a leader with experience in theHousing sector,with project examples fromkey Western states. Successful candidates will have a portfolio of workinCA, WA, AZ, CO. RyanCompanies uses a unique integrated delivery process that involves architecture, engineering, construction, development, real estatemanagementand capital markets. Ryan's integrated process requires an individual to be able to work in a proactive and positive manner in tandem with local teams and cross regionally within a national design practice.
Some things you can expect to do:
Responsible for staff development including leading,managingand mentoring staff.
Works with Development and Construction on all aspects of Business development including leading proposal effortsand project interviews.
Responsible forsuccessfully collaborating and working within a matrix organization withthe design sector leaders to ensure we are matching regionalexpertisewith sectorexpertiseto provide our clients with the ultimate solution.In addition, teaming with the sector leaders to generate work in the region.
Works withtheteam to design responsibly with a focus on sustainability and well-being.Developsstrategies to enhancesurroundingcommunity andbea positive impact in the context of the immediate project.
Responsible for achieving yearly profit expectations in collaboration with Sector Leaders.Monitors and manages monthly financial reports.
Responsible for strategic Regional Initiatives in conjunction with A+E Leadership,Regionand Division.
Activelyparticipatesin leadership meetings, departmentmeetingsandquarterlyowner meetings.
To be successful in this role:
Professional Architecturedegree;B Arch or M Archrequired.
Relevant professional work experiencewith a proventrack recordof managing multiple projects, includingcomplexprojects, managing a large to mid-sized team, and managing a large P+L.
Stronglocalconnections to the design community are a must.
A proventrack recordof leadingclient presentations and relationshipsas well as a history of working with local municipalities through entitlement and the code process are highly preferred.
Licensurerequired.
Excellentsales and presentation skills.
Proven ability to work with contracts and budgets as well as ensure quality drawings arebeing producedby the design team.
Excellentunderstanding ofdevelopment,construction, design,workloadand resourcemanagement.
Provenability to collaborate with a diverse team.
Strong knowledge of Excel, Procore,Deltekand other project management softwarepreferred.
Revit andBlueBeam knowledgepreferred.
LEED AP, WELL Accredited Professionaland/orPMP Certification preferred.
ExpertiseintheHousing Sector is a must.
Regionaland Divisionalresponsibility,performs the following responsibilities in partnership withA+ELeadership, SectorLeadersand DepartmentLeaders:
Partnerwith the Regional Presidents, VP of Operations and developers to champion regional goals, communicate financial status, coordinate future pipeline, help enhance business development where needed, and serve alongside the critical leaders in theWestregionsto ensure a great culture.
Coordinates withthedesign team within theRegion including all professional and business activities.
Developsandmaintainsrelationships withDevelopment,Constructionandthird-partycustomers.
Leads growth of the region in support of RyanCompanies'and Ryan A+E's 5-year vision and initiatives.
Project Delivery,in collaboration with key partners and team members,confirmthat each project has an effectiveproject delivery approach:
Ensureappropriate internalstaff andconsultant resourcesareidentified, selected, contracts negotiated, and workload managedina timelymannerfor each phase of the project.
Ensure approvals are in place and documented for each design phase, including owner, AHJ approvals and company approvalssuch as Owner Authorization to Proceed.
Ensure project internal reviewsand coordinationare occurring(QA/QC, VDC, Specifications, cross-discipline).
Ensure Design Project Management Checklist is being followed and completed for all projects and phases.
Ensure successful design meetings, owner/clientmeetingsand project team meetings are occurring.
Ensure projectteams are clearly documenting and communicatingscopeand design decisions.
Ensure an effective,appropriateand reasonable design schedule is developed.Design schedule to be communicated,monitoredand adjusted appropriately for each design phase.
Ensure that deliverables areidentified, agreeduponand executedfor each phasein accordance withthe overall project schedule.
Responsible for signing/sealing drawings and specifications.
Manages financial health ofprojectmonthly.
Ensurerevenue and expense contracts are in place atstartof the project.
Manages monthly revenue and expenseinvoicing.
Performs tasks witha high levelof collaboration and sets an example for others to follow.
Establishes andpursesannualgoals;based on personal, professional and company growth in the industry.
Contributes to Ryan culture through participation in office activities, initiatives and learning programs.
Responsible for execution of Ryan's yearly review and goal setting process based on personal and professional development goals.
Activelyparticipatesin RyanCompanies'and Ryan A+E's 5-year vision/initiatives and 1-year business plans and goals.
Compensation:
The base pay range is $150,300-$180,000/Annually. The salary may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
