Legal Entity Aultman Health Foundation Position Summary The System Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) is a strategic executive leader responsible for the clinical, operational, and financial oversight of all Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) across the health system. This role serves as the primary advocate and administrative leader for the APP workforce, ensuring alignment with the systems strategic goals, optimizing labor productivity, and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence. Areas of Oversight Summary Strategic Leadership Governance Establish a centralized Office of APP Practice to unify standards across three hospital campuses and all ambulatory sites. Work with the CMO and VPMA and Develop and implement a system-wide APP workforce plan that aligns with long-term growth strategies in key service lines (e.g., Cardiology, Surgery, Primary Care). Lead the APP Advisory Council to ensure provider engagement and representation in system-level decision-making. Clinical Excellence Top-of-License Practice Define and standardize APP scopes of practice, ensuring all providers are utilized to the maximum extent of their license and training. Collaborate with the Medical Staff Office to streamline system-wide credentialing and privileging, moving toward a one-and-done model for the 3-hospital system. Develop standardized peer review (OPPE/FPPE) and competency assessment tools specifically tailored for APPs. Operational Financial Management Qualifications Masters or Doctoral degree in Nursing (CNS, NP, CRNA, CNM) or Physician Assistant studies. MBA, MHA, Doctorate or equivalent leadership degree preferred. Minimum of 710 years of clinical experience as an APP, with at least 5 years in a progressive leadership or administrative role within a multi-hospital system. Current licensure as an APP in the state of practice. Onboarding Efficiency Decrease time-to-productivity by 30% via a centralized, system-wide APP orientation program. Primary work hours are generally Monday through Friday, day shift; however, flexibility in scheduling is required to meet organizational, operational, and leadership needs. This leadership role supports services that operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and may require availability outside of normal business hours to address operational or clinical priorities. Occasional evenings, weekends, or holiday availability may be required based on organizational demands, system priorities, or leadership responsibilities. Regular presence across multiple hospital, ambulatory, and system locations is required to support operational oversight, staff engagement, and system integration. Participation in meetings, committees, leadership rounding, and strategic initiatives is required. Work requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and utilize computer systems for extended periods, with movement between clinical and administrative environments as necessary. The role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, make decisions with system-wide impact, and respond effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment.
