Position Summary:

The Director of Advanced Practice is responsible for oversight of professional practice for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across the enterprise. Oversight responsibility includes Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). This includes all categories of APRNs, specifically Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs). The incumbent will maintain clinical competency and relevant credentials by remaining directly involved in inpatient and/or outpatient clinical practice.

The Director of Advanced Practice demonstrates expert clinical knowledge, capable leadership, and a strong history of service in the field of advanced practice. He/she will lead the development of an advanced practice operational and strategic infrastructure that aligns with and supports UTMC strategic goals and initiatives. The incumbent will work collaboratively with medical staff and nursing leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and cost-effective APP care across the continuum. He/she is responsible for successfully developing and deploying programs/initiatives that promote top-of-license practice, validate practitioner competency, and that adhere to established legal/regulatory requirements.

He/she will educate and lead advanced practice providers to contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives and demonstrate the ability to work with team members at all levels and across all disciplines. He/she will provide expertise on APP regulations and collaborate with the Medical Staff Office to oversee the credentialing and privileging process for advanced practice providers.

Position Qualification:

Unencumbered, and in good standing, APRN or PA licensure within the State of Tennessee, or in the active process of obtaining via application with ability to meet all requirements set forth by the associated licensing body. The selected applicant will be expected to participate in the credentialing process outlined by the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Medical Staff, and maintain their practice in accordance with the rules, regulations, and bylaws set within.

Master's in health care related field of study preferred
