This is a hands‑on Director of Accounting role overseeing technical accounting, audit, consolidation, and trade accounting within a growing CPG organization. The role combines leadership, transformation, and deep commercial exposure in a fast‑moving retail environment.

Our client is a private equity‑backed Consumer Packaged Goods business with a strong brick‑and‑mortar retail presence and a growing eCommerce channel. The organization is in a period of transformation, investing in systems, process improvement, and scalable finance infrastructure.
Description
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Own technical accounting matters, accounting policy development, and US GAAP compliance
- Lead the annual audit and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Oversee consolidation and multi‑entity accounting activities
- Manage trade promotions, customer deductions, rebates, and other retail‑specific accounting areas
- Partner closely with Sales and Finance to improve visibility into trade spend and profitability
- Support the transition from Oracle to NetSuite and drive process improvements and automation
- Manage and develop a lean accounting team, including one direct report
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure audit‑ready financials in a private equity environment
Profile
- 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within CPG, retail, or product‑based environments
- Strong background in technical accounting, audit, and consolidation
- Hands‑on experience with trade promotions, deductions, and retail revenue recognition
- ERP experience required; NetSuite exposure strongly preferred
- Comfortable operating in lean, high‑accountability environments
- Strong communicator with a collaborative, humble, and pragmatic leadership style
- Open to strong Senior Managers ready to step into a Director‑level role
