The Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting oversees all enterprise-wide accounting operations and financial reporting activities. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Controller, this role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial statements while leading the end to end financial data lifecycle. The Director is responsible for managing accounting policies, regulatory reporting, financial close processes, and internal controls, while driving operational efficiency and supporting strategic decision making through high quality financial insights. This role partners closely with cross functional leaders to maintain strong governance, optimize reporting capabilities, and support the organization''s financial health and long term objectives. Minimum Qualifications

12+ years w/Bachelor's degree; 3+ years management

Additional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Minimum of 6 years of progressive leadership or equivalent experience Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in financial reporting or technical accounting Experience in insurance or healthcare sectors, with knowledge of SAP and regulatory frameworks Prior leadership experience in public accounting or a complex, multi-entity environment Proven success in managing audits and implementing reporting improvements

Demonstrate strong financial and data literacy with deep expertise in GAAP, SAP, and regulatory reporting, coupled with advanced technical and regulatory writing skills and a clear understanding of enterprise-wide financial impacts. Proven experience in leadership of accounting systems with demonstrated ability to translate accounting requirements into effective system design, controls, and reporting. Experience with system implementation preferred. Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.

Utilizes financial storytelling to communicate insights at the appropriate level, from operational teams to executive leadership and board members. Drives continuous improvement in reporting systems and processes by leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, scalability, and data integrity, while fostering a culture of innovation, creative thinking, and proactive problem-solving. Collaborates across finance and enterprise teams to align reporting with strategic objectives and organizational impact. Leads scenario planning and critical analysis to assess financial implications of business initiatives and regulatory changes.
