Position Title Director of Academic Advising Job Duties
Butler Community College is seeking a dynamic and student-focused Director of Academic Advising to lead and oversee academic advising services across Butler Community College locations for both domestic and international students.
The Director of Academic Advising is responsible for the strategic coordination, administration, training, and delivery of comprehensive academic advising services. This position ensures students receive accurate, timely, and effective guidance regarding academic programs, degree requirements, transfer pathways, and enrollment processes. Key responsibilities include managing the collection and dissemination of academic and degree information, maintaining knowledge of transfer requirements at primary partner institutions, overseeing enrollment process development, and collaborating with Testing Center personnel to support student success initiatives.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, along with a commitment to fostering student achievement and promoting seamless academic planning and progression.

Qualifications
Required knowledge and skills
A. Knowledge of advising theory and practice.
B. Ability to provide leadership and direct the work of others.
C. Strong interpersonal communication skills.
D. Organizational skills.
E. Ability to work as a team member and advocate assisting in the efficient operation of the entire department.
F. Obtain strong knowledge base in Butler academic programs and transfer forward options.
Required experience
A. Two (2) years of prior supervisory experience required.
B. Two (2) years of academic advising experience required.
C. Experience in a community college setting is preferred.
Required educational background
Master's degree in an educational field required.
