Job Description: The Director of Middle School Curriculum and County Testing Coordinator is responsible for working collaboratively with others to implement, revise and monitor programs and services to students, grades 6-8 and to coordinate all West Virginia Department of Education testing requirements for elementary, middle, and high schools.
Qualifications:
- Holds or qualifies for a West Virginia Professional Administrative Certificate.
- Holds a master's degree related to the public school program.
- Has a minimum of five years of teaching and/or educational administrative experience.
- Demonstrated effective school administrative experience at the middle school level preferred.
Length of Employment: 261 Days
Responsibilities: The Director of Middle School Curriculum and County Testing Coordinator shall have the following responsibilities and duties:
- To provide purpose and direction for the schools/county.
- To demonstrate cognitive skills to gather, analyze and synthesize information to reach goals.
- To manage group behaviors to achieve consensus.
- To enhance quality of total school/county organization.
- To organize and delegate to accomplish goals.
- To communicate effectively.
- To administer, revise and monitor the instructional program for middle school students, 6-8, in accordance with federal, state and county policies and regulations.
- To interpret federal and state legislation and regulations affecting the education of middle school students, 6-8.
- To prepare and monitor the budgets in areas of assignment.
- To prepare all appropriate county, state and federal reports and applications as required.
- To monitor the progress of middle school students, 6-8, for appropriateness and effectiveness of instruction.
- To assist in the evaluation and implementation of policies dealing with curriculum and instruction in middle school education, 6-8.
- To work cooperatively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum in the development and delivery of staff development for professional personnel.
- To coordinate the implementation of the state and county testing program.
- To work cooperatively with other central office staff to develop and implement a comprehensive, system-wide school improvement process.
- To assess middle school professional and service personnel staffing needs.
- To recommend textbooks and supervise the textbook adoption and inventory processes for middle school.
- To serve as a resource person for new teachers participating in the Beginning Educator Internship Program.
- To supervise and evaluate middle school principals and other staff as assigned.
- To assist in the dissemination of information regarding school sponsored performances, exhibits, displays and other activities.
- To maintain an open line of communication with community organizations and provide prompt responses to requests for information.
- To recommend school personnel willing to serve community groups as speakers or volunteer resource specialists.
- To assist in surveying the community regarding educational issues.
- To assist in obtaining the services of community members to serve on advisory committees.
- To assist in professional development, faculty senate meetings and principals' meetings.
- To serve as a resource for middle school principals.
- To assume a leadership role for implementing effective schools research in areas of responsibility.
- To work with other appropriate district staff to implement, plan, and manage professional learning communities (PLC's) at the middle school level.
- To serve as the WV MAPS Test Coordinator.
- To serve as a PLC mentor and provide instructional support.
- To formulate and research curricular data.
- To monitor and support numeracy and literacy teams.
- To maintain professional work habits.
- To maintain and upgrade professional skills.
- To organize, plan, coordinate drop-out prevention efforts.
- To organize, plan, and manage virtual school programs.
- To plan, coordinate, and supervise a career development program.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
