The Position


Leads, develops, and executes innovative alternative model strategies across the Novo Nordisk portfolio, with direct oversight of Strategic Partnership Management, Alternative Channel Partnerships, and Program Management functions within the Alternative Models framework. This role defines and drives comprehensive strategies to expand patient access, optimize distribution channels, and enhance healthcare delivery approaches. By monitoring and analyzing trends in healthcare access, provider ecosystems, and emerging payment models, the Director ensures organizational alignment and positions Novo Nordisk as a leader in innovative, patient-centric care solutions.





Relationships


Reports to Senior Director, MAPA Channel Innovation & Operations (CI&O). Interacts internally with colleagues across Market Access & Public Affairs, as well as team representatives from Marketing & Patient Solutions, Executive Office / USO Strategy, Legal, Finance, and other relevant departments. External relationships include close engagements with leaders across telehealth, retail, and insurance, as well as partnerships with digital healthcare platforms, employer networks, and other non-traditional healthcare channels to drive innovation and expand patient access.





Essential Functions



+ Leads a team focused on developing and executing the alternative model strategy across the Novo Nordisk portfolio, while overseeing Strategic Partnership Management, Alternative Channel Partnerships, and Program Management roles within the Alternative Models initiative


+ Oversee the design of innovative pilot programs with telehealth platforms, retail partners, and emerging distribution channels. Tracks metrics for program performance to ensure alignment with overarching Alternative Models objectives


+ Facilitates cross-functional collaboration with internal leadership teams (Market Access, Legal, Finance, Marketing & Patient Solutions) and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive execution of strategic initiatives tied to alternative model frameworks


+ Engages regularly with MA LT to ensure alternative models align with and support broader market access objectives


+ Collaborates with the MA Strategic Advisor to ensure consistent messaging for all executive-level communications, with a focus on the Alternative Models strategy and its progress


+ Ensures seamless integration of collaboration activities, including term-sheet development, value proposition alignment, and implementation


+ Establish and maintain a broad network of relationships with key players in the external innovation ecosystem


+ Responsible for tracking commercial trends affecting payers, including but not limited to changes in organized customer groups, business models, payment reform, and value-based care


+ Identifies shifts in the alternative access landscape and translates them into actionable insights, creating innovative, scenario-based strategies to position Novo Nordisk for success in evolving delivery and payment models


+ Delivers internal and/or external trainings and presentations on ways to recognize and develop innovation within the team


+ Develops and maintains relationships with key customer executives


+ Adheres to administrative policies and procedures and encourages others to do the same


+ Contributes to practices that attract and retain the best people






Physical Requirements


10-20% overnight travel required.





Development of People


Supervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.





Qualifications



+ A Bachelor's Degree in Business or equivalent experience. MBA or another advanced degree preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate


+ A minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible work experience, including expertise in program management, partnership development, channel strategy, and digital healthcare innovation


+ A minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience, with demonstrated results in innovation and change management


+ Strong understanding of the complex and rapidly evolving factors influencing US market access, including reimbursement trends, payer concerns and healthcare policy


+ Creative and entrepreneurial thinking is required


+ Have strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and project management skills


+ Requires leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision and engage people in that vision, including in a fluid, rapidly changing environment


+ Ability to access and influence various functional areas and motivate groups to action without direct line management responsibility

The base compensation range for this position is $181,670 to $317,920. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.





Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
