As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a dynamic, strategic, and collaborative professional to serve as Director of K-12 STEM Programs, who will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing leadership in the development and implementation of mathematics and STEM professional learning that improves instructional practice and student outcomes.

Reporting directly to the appropriate supervisor, the Director of K-12 STEM Programs provides content expertise and leadership to develop and implement mathematics and STEM professional learning, builds Marian Universitys credibility and partnerships in mathematics and STEM education while expanding program reach and funding opportunities, oversees and manages the Indy STEM Alliance, and will lead the development of a mathematics version of the Literacy Cadre.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Oversee and manage the Indy STEM Alliance (50%)
  • Build and sustain partnerships with school districts, state agencies, and education organizations to expand program reach and impact. (10%)
  • Identify, develop, and support grant and funding opportunities to expand mathematics initiatives and sustain program growth. (10%)
  • Design and lead K-12 mathematics professional learning programs aligned with research, state standards, and effective instructional practices. (5%)
  • Develop high-quality mathematics content and instructional resources for educators, including training materials, tools, and implementation supports. (5%)
  • Support implementation and instructional improvement in partner schools and districts, including coaching guidance, fidelity support, and continuous improvement processes. (5%)
  • Provide thought leadership in mathematics education through presentations, publications, convenings, and collaboration with university faculty and external partners. (5%)
  • Collaborate with the Center for Vibrant Schools and university teams to align math initiatives with existing programs, research efforts, and strategic priorities. (5%)
  • Monitor program outcomes and use data to guide improvement and demonstrate impact.

Additional Functions:

The Director exercises independent judgment in the design and delivery of mathematics professional learning, including selecting instructional frameworks, developing content, and determining appropriate implementation supports for partner schools. The role requires professional discretion in prioritizing partnerships, aligning programming with research and state standards, and identifying

opportunities for growth and funding.

The Director collaborates closely with Center leadership and university partners on strategic direction, grant proposals, and high-visibility initiatives. Independent decision-making is expected within established strategic priorities, with leadership consultation for major programmatic, financial, or institutional commitments.

This position will manage and oversee grant funding obtained to support the work of this position in

collaboration with the Centers Executive Director of Marketing and Operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering mathematics professional learning for educators
  • Deep knowledge of K-12 mathematics standards, instructional practices, and curriculum design
  • Experience working with schools or districts to support instructional improvement
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for adult learning environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related discipline
  • Experience securing, managing, or supporting grant-funded initiatives
  • Experience conducting research, publishing, or presenting in mathematics education
  • Familiarity with state and national mathematics improvement initiatives
  • Leadership experience guiding large-scale or multi-district implementation efforts
