Job Overview:

The Director- Home Rating Plan will supervise a team of actuaries, analysts and junior data scientists. Analyze, assess, and manage Home pricing systems and make recommendations based on the analysis. This role requires innovative thought driving advancement of pricing systems initiatives and iteration and other associated research that contribute to the overall profitability and growth of the company

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide the development of innovative pricing systems and associated strategies for the Home line of business.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, state management, and rating and implementation teams to develop and implement enhancements to pricing systems.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends and competitor pricing systems and strategies to aid in strategy and analysis.
  • Monitor impact of implemented initiatives to ensure accuracy of implementation and achievement of desired business outcomes.
  • Lead and motivate a team of actuaries, analysts and junior data scientists to accomplish company strategies and goals.
  • Present findings and recommendations to Actuarial leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and statistical support to Regulatory Filing section on Insurance Department rate filings, including the incorporation of state restrictions into new features and supporting communication to gain state approval.
  • Evaluate job performance of actuaries, analysts, and junior data scientists.
  • Independently respond clearly and thoroughly to inquiries from members of other departments.
  • Assign, provide adequate instruction to other members of the actuarial/pricing unit, and be responsible for completion of any miscellaneous assigned projects.
  • Attend internal meetings on department's behalf and industry meetings on the company's behalf.
  • Responsibility to be aware of and in compliance with the corporate standards, policies, procedures and best practices relative to the hardware, software and systems employed within the department, which are not created or controlled by Amica's IT department.

This role is open to full-time remote work, or hybrid onsite in our Lincoln, RI office. Our normal business hours are 8am - 5pm Eastern Time.

This role does not currently offer employment visa sponsorship.

The salary range for this position is $149,000-$229,000. All offers are based on both education and experience. This is a full-time position based on a 37.5 hour work week. In addition, hired applicants will be eligible for the company's annual variable incentive paid based on company performance.

Qualifications:

  • Credentialed Member of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS or FCAS) or Charted Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in property casualty personal lines insurance (Home preferred) pricing/product analytical areas.
  • Strong proficiency in actuarial software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to various stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a team of actuaries and analysts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience with rating plan development, analysis, and implementation.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead large-scale projects and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
