Job Description
Implements, supports and monitors the development and implementation of programs that address the Bilingual Multicultural Act, the Indian Education Act, the Hispanic Education Act and Fine Arts Education Act
Directly supervises Fine Arts/Library coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
Complies with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession; upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives, regulations, GISD school board policies, as well as local, state and federal regulations.
Contributes to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of education by fostering equality, fairness and diversity across the school community, including creating, leading and supporting opportunities for involvement.
Collaborates with the Associate Superintendent of Finance as Control Agent.
Implements to their professional practice the perspective that comes from a non-traditional educational background or an understanding of the experiences of those underrepresented in the educational field.
Compiles budgets based on documented program needs by ensuring programs are cost effective and budgets are managed prudently.
Working knowledge of short and long-term planning, budgeting, and program development
Plan for and monitor expenditures of state and federal grant funds through Title III, Fine Arts Education Act, and
emerging grants related to the job title.
Maintain an inventory of materials and equipment used specifically from Title III funding.
Completes Title III application annually, monitors progress, and updates outcomes to demonstrate success of Title III program.
Advocates for programs to meet the needs of marginalized student populations.
Assists in the assessment and evaluation of the effectiveness of District programs and the delivery of these programs.
Collaborate with the District Test Coordinator to ensure all federal testing mandates are met.
Provides leadership that ensures a quality instructional program to include curriculum development, instructional delivery of the developed curriculum, and student outcomes.
Collaborates with the Chief Academic Officer on matters of concern, recommends, and evaluates the action needed to alleviate the needs of students and schools.
Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use research-based principles of effective instruction of 2nd language learners.
Ensures a student-centered, equitable instructional program that is culturally and linguistically responsive.
Directs the Superintendents Equity Council through planning agendas and reviewing student outcomes to assess programming.
Work with district teams to analyze student language acquisition data.
Directs District Specialists in developing learning opportunities for teachers and instructional assistants.
Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities, and self-selected professional growth activities.
Attends district team meetings, principal meetings, etc.
Must be willing to direct and maintain a program whose sole purpose is to encourage student success at all levels.
Assist in the development of the District Education Plan
Supervise the implementation of the Digital Equity Survey submission process and report results
Ability to build strong partnerships in an environment of collaboration, both internally and externally
Ability to develop and sustain a team approach to program and service development
Excellent ability to adapt communication and interpersonal style to various audiences and be willing to make oral presentations before large groups of people.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Performs other duties as needed, required, or assigned

Supervises the department District Instructional Specialists and Coordinator of Fine Arts/Library

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree (M.A.) in Educational Administration.
Minimum 5 years principal experience
Minimum 5 years teaching experience
Minimum of 3 years experience working with marginalized populations
Requires knowledge of Yazzie Martinez, Black Equity Act, Hispanic Education Act, Indian Education Act, Fine Arts Act
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
New Mexico Level 3B Administrative License
New Mexico Teacher License with Bilingual, TESOL
New Mexico Teacher License with Visual Arts endorsement (preferred)

Ability to use multiple virtual instructional platforms.
Proficient in Google Suites

Ability to use multiple student data platforms.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general education periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators and staff.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
