Description

The Director of Design & Technology position exists at Rochester Electronics to win and execute business with customers that involves deep engineering contact while planning future engagement and/or product strategies for end-customers while directly managing, developing, and coaching Design Engineering staff. This is a site management position that works for and with the Vice President, Design Technology.

Responsibilities
  • Excel at direct world-wide customer engagement to help book the business as well as drive to complete the business with clean execution of the design tasks.
  • Develop and support the unique EDA tool flow required for replicating semiconductor products.
  • Help ensure the entire multi-site Design and Technology organization is aligned with common goals and priorities.
  • Enable sales and marketing with support, engineering content (customer support, presentations, phone support, etc.), and quotes to win business.
  • Facilitate the growth of staff knowledge in product replication and/or whatever design-related businesses Rochester elects to participate in.
  • Create marketing collateral emphasizing Rochester's design and technology capabilities.
  • Enable the Sales and Supplier organizations with product analysis, inventory analysis, and product marketing strategies to increase business beyond purely design-related engagements.
  • Plan future product strategy for any new silicon or board-level solutions to resolve customer semiconductor obsolescence issues while increasing Rochester's SAM (serviceable available market) for those customers.
  • Maintain or exceed profit margin targets for this business unit.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering required (BSEE, BSCS, or BSCE).
  • A minimum of 20 years of multi-site design engineering management experience, 3-5 years of technical marketing experience, including 5 years of world-wide direct customer engagement.
  • Several years of managing a design team preferred
  • This position requires strong teamwork and very good interpersonal skills. Experience defining the necessary process of moving a semiconductor design to fab and through manufacturing, while exhibiting a keen business sense regarding booking business from a technical perspective is preferred.
  • Personal experience with backend layout (DRC/LVS), test program generation, scripting, timing analysis and all aspects of semiconductor design closure: power, timing, congestion/routing required
