AWS Infrastructure Operations is seeking an experienced Director to lead Regional Data Center Operations across Texas. Based in the Texas area, this role will oversee critical infrastructure that powers AWS services across one of our most complex and diverse infrastructure regions in North America.

The Infrastructure Operations organization operates rapidly scaling high availability data centers supporting the AWS business across the globe. Safety, security, and availability are the most important things we deliver to our external and internal customers. We execute server and network installations, repairs, data center mechanical and electrical system operations and maintenance, physical security, and logistics operations on a 24x7 basis.

The Director will be responsible for ensuring standards for operational performance in the areas of safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost of an expanding portfolio of data centers supporting the AWS business in the US East region. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence while scaling infrastructure to meet growing customer demand.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive safety culture and security initiatives across all regional data center facilities
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with our global standards while addressing regional requirements
  • Oversee capacity planning, delivery, and growth strategies to meet customer demand
  • Direct engineering operations across multiple infrastructure types (Colocation, Hybrid, Build-to-Suit)
  • Manage complex multi-stakeholder coordination requirements with internal teams, vendors, and local authorities
  • Operation and maintenance of data center mechanical, electrical, and controls systems including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency maintenance, and change management
  • Installation, repair, and decommissioning of data center hardware and network devices
  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop data center cluster operations management teams
  • Manage performance of key vendors such as colocation data center service providers and maintenance vendors in line with management goals
  • Execute the Infrastructure Operations support component of new data center cluster launches, new data center launches, and existing data center expansions
  • Propose and comply with agreed operational performance goals relating to safety, security, availability, capacity, productivity, efficiency, and cost
  • Support the physical security safeguarding of people, assets, and customer data in data centers
  • Manage operations budgeting and capital expenditures and operating expenses in line with management targets
