The Weapon Systems (WS) Division within Defense Systems sector, is seeking a Director of Contracts (D1) leader who will champion innovation, strategic thought, and is committed to business performance success. The Weapon Systems (WS) Division within Defense Systems sector, is seeking a Director of Contracts (D1) leader who will champion innovation, strategic thought, and is committed to business performance success. This role is in-office and on-site. Candidates should be able to work from Rocket Center, WV (preferred). For highly qualified candidates, another Northrop Grumman site such as Linthicum, Maryland or McLean, Virginia may be considered.

Through its Missile Products (MP) business portfolio, the Director of Contracts (D1) leader will provide contractual and strategy leadership, as well as manage all contract administration efforts responsible for a varied portfolio of Development, Production and Sustainment contracts of various types, inclusive of international contracting. This position requires regular interaction with executive management at the Business Unit, Division, Sector and Corporate levels, plus the customer base. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead an engaging team with a challenging geographically disperse portfolio of contract different contract types, develop highly effective customer relations (both internal and external stakeholders), possess excellent problem solving, communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines.

Key Highlights of What You'll Get to Do:

  • Position directly reports to the WS Division Director of Contracts
  • Key business partner to the MP business unit executive leadership, program management, business management and capture team leadership to drive innovative solutions, with speed and agility, to complex business scenarios.
  • Spearhead negotiation strategies to drive positive business outcomes while maintaining good relationship internal and external clientele.
  • Champion a team of management and professionals responsible for contracts, business operations, inclusive of its international business portfolios.
  • Execute with speed and agility, contracting initiatives in support of the business financial objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline with minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in complex contractual management to include proposal development and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to mentor and lead.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skill.
  • Experience leading teams, including cross-functional/cross-organization teams.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; ability to make recommendations and provide guidance to effectively bring projects to completion.
  • Demonstrated skill in advising senior leadership on contractual rights, term interpretation, and strategy.
  • Broad experience managing contracts throughout the acquisition life‑cycle and a deep understanding of U.S. Government acquisition processes and regulations.
  • Proven ability to review and approve contractual documents to protect the company's posture and ensure compliance with policy.
  • 50 % travel time is required.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in fixed price development, production, and sustaining contracts, inclusive of international contracts management.
  • Proven experience in administering various contract types, cradle to grave, of varying sizes, inclusive of international contracting, through contract closeout.
  • In-depth understanding of Government acquisition policies, regulations and proposal compliance requirements.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance that has been adjudicated within the last 5 years.
  • Experience in operating across multiple ERP systems (Cost Point, and 1ERP).
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, possessing solid written and verbal communication skills, to ensure team performance aligns to program objectives and compliance in a regulated industry.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; ability to make recommendations and provide guidance to effectively bring projects to completion.
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and associated Federal Contracting Regulations with the ability to apply sound judgment to proposal strategy, contract formation and customer relationships.

Primary Level Salary Range: $160,200.00 - $278,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate''s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
