Job Description Summary

The Executive Leader for Configuration Management and Product Definition is a critical role within the Gas Power Engineering domain, responsible for driving strategic direction, operational excellence, and innovation across the global product definition, technical compliance and configuration management teams. This position encompasses oversight of design, drafting execution, regulatory compliance, technical change and lifecycle bill of materials management for Gas Power products, including Heavy-Duty Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generator Accessories, and Aeroderivative products.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement long-term strategies and priorities to meet business objectives centered around Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Champion innovation through adopting cutting-edge technologies and driving continuous improvement.
  • Global Resource Management: Oversee global teams of 650+ engineers across various countries, planning budgets in excess of $110M and headcounts to meet program commitments for New Product Introduction (NPI), Inquiry to Order (ITO), Order to Remittance (OTR), and Service phases. Facilitate collaboration across functions such as Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Sourcing, and Quality.
  • Technical Regulatory Compliance: Through regional research and requirement flow down, ensure compliance with global technical regulations and standards. Develop subject matter experts in key regulatory spaces to support new and existing products and markets.
  • Process Optimization: Streamline engineering processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and enhance productivity through lean methodologies.
  • Quality: Establish and implement quality management strategies to ensure the defect free delivery of over 7,000 models/drawings to supply chain and over 2,500 models/drawing to customers each year.
  • Performance and Talent Management: Conduct performance evaluations, manage salary planning, and promote professional growth through feedback and coaching. Foster a positive work environment and develop technical talent pipelines for key roles.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Ensure effective communication of technical and business information within teams and across organizations. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure integrated system design solutions and common practices.
  • Innovation/Transformation: Stay informed of industry trends and best practices, engaging with standards committees and advocating for continuous improvement. Lead the AI transformation for the team. Own strategic elements of our Engineer 2030 roadmap.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Information Systems or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering design and leadership within manufacturing or engineering environments.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proven experience implementing, using and coaching foundational lean skills/tools: Standard Work, Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, Problem Solving, KPI Development, Waste Identification
  • Gas Power Engineering tools knowledge:  CAD – Dassault CATIA, Siemens NX; PLM – Dassault, Siemens Team Center; AVEVA Engineering and e3D
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities including working with large organizations and various levels of leadership, up to and including Senior Executive and Vice President leaders.  Able to present key data effectively and clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional/business/location and drive change.
  • Ability to energize, develop, and build rapport at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying global standard schemes including IEC, ASME, NFPA, CSA, EN and others as required by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • CMII or CMPIC external Configuration Management theory & practice training as well as certification

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $204,000 and $306,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
