Position Overview
The Director, Clinical Systems owns the Systems’ solution architecture, interoperability, governance, and performance of Velocity’s clinical technology ecosystem — including but not limited to CTMS, Regulatory, Source Data Capture, scheduling, and integrated reporting.
This is an enterprise solution leadership role responsible for ensuring that clinical platforms operate as a cohesive operational backbone, architected to enable predictable enrollment, compliant execution, scalable growth, and measurable financial performance. The Director must apply “systems thinking” toward driving operational solutions and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
1. Enterprise System Ownership & Strategic Architecture
- Serve as business owner and subject matter expert for all clinical systems.
- Define and maintain the target-state operational systems architecture.
- Ensure cross-platform interoperability across systems.
- Establish architectural guardrails preventing siloed solutions.
2. Solution Design & Impact Governance
- Lead enterprise impact analyses for new initiatives.
- Chair system change control governance forums.
- Translate transformation initiatives into structured roadmaps.
- Fully understand system capabilities and steer decision making toward best location and governance of data.
3. Operational Optimization & Automation Strategy
- Identify automation and workflow design opportunities.
- Drive measurable improvements in cycle time and data quality.
- Lead vendor strategy discussions and performance reviews.
4. Adoption, Enablement & Organizational Alignment
- Develop enterprise adoption frameworks and training strategies.
- Monitor utilization, compliance, and workflow efficiency.
- Act as escalation point for systemic issues.
- Develop and implement change management strategies leading to organizational uptake.
5. Governance, Quality & Compliance Leadership
- Ensure alignment with GCP and regulatory standards.
- Oversee audit readiness and vendor oversight processes.
- Maintain enterprise SOPs and governance documentation.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in clinical systems leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-system integration strategies.
- Strong understanding of clinical trial and site workflows and regulatory frameworks.
- Hands-on ability to use AI platforms to generate insights and automation. Good understanding of SQLs, APIs, Cloud and LLM Capabilities.
