BRIEF JOB SUMMARY
Each faculty member at Tusculum University is an integral part of teaching and mentoring students and enacting the Universitys mission. In support of that mission, faculty should advance all components of the mission statement. This includes the universitys faith-based tradition, which emphasizes closeness of faculty-student involvement both within and without the classroom in order to cultivate citizenship, Christian character, and practical wisdom among members of the University community.
As a part of that mission, the university is committed to creating a campus climate in which the Christian faith is reasonably and persuasively presented and in which the university offers a program of quality education in the liberal arts and sciences with the concept of the wholeness of life as interpreted by the Christian faith.
With that in mind, faculty are responsible for providing quality in-class instruction, mentoring students outside the classroom, serving on university committees, and engaging in other service that helps to further the Universitys mission. Tusculum faculty are responsible for teaching a minimum of 12-15 credits pending rank in each of the fall and spring semesters, advising, service, scholarship, and professional development.
This individual reports directly to the Dean, College of Education. Responsibilities include administering the Clinical Experiences that are an integral part of the Teacher Education K-5 K-12 9-12 and 6-12 programs, as well as serving as primary liaison between the EPP and LEAs for which the university has a partnership agreement. The Clinical Experience Director will place all students for student teaching and clinical practicum and assign supervisors to the various locations. Requisite visits to each student will be completed or coordinated by the Director of edTPA for Teacher Education Clinical Experience Supervisors and Director of Clinical Experience.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
• 18 graduate hours in the discipline required • Masters degree or PhD preferred • Mastery of technological competencies that facilitate 21st century literacies is preferred • Extensive experience in the public-school setting • Knowledgeable of current best practices in the field of elementary and secondary education • Work independently as well as collaboratively
