Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Child Care Operations
- Maintain high-quality childcare standards based on developmentally appropriate practices.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and coordination of children''s developmental programs and activities.
- Ensure consistent compliance with all Texas (HHSC) Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers, including the maintenance of annual fire, health, and other required inspections.
- Coordinate the licensing and renewal of the child care center with Texas Health and Human Services (HHS).
- Use a variety of communication approaches and tools to maintain consistent, open, and effective communication with families and staff while providing education training, and support, as needed.
- Support the center''s marketing and families recruitment and retention efforts while providing reliable, accurate, and timely information about the childcare center to interested parties.
- Provide initial and ongoing required professional learning and training to child care center staff in accordance with Texas (HHSC) Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers.
Policy, Reports, and Law
- Implement federal and state law, Department of Family and Protective Services rule, and FBISD board policies.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required according to Texas HHS Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers.
- Maintain accurate records for children enrolled in the program, including developmental progress, attendance, immunizations, and general health information.
- Prepare reports to Child Protective Services (CPS) and other agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of enrolled children.
- Ensure employee time records are accurately maintained and payroll-related data is submitted in a timely manner.
Financial and Operational Resources
- Develop and implement inventory and stock control systems for equipment and supplies; recommend replacement or disposal of obsolete items as necessary.
- Monitor program needs and ensure operations are cost-effective, with resources managed efficiently and responsibly.
- Collaborate with Early Childhood Department staff to develop and maintain effective systems for communicating tuition, fees, and program-related information to families.
Professional Development and Curriculum Allignment
- Attend professional development seminars to maintain an understanding of the current best practices in curriculum and administrative functions of child development programs.
Safety
- Ensure systems and procedures are in place to protect children, staff, facilities, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain safety standards in compliance with federal, state, local, and insurance regulations, and develop preventive safety programs.
- Implement and enforce district safety and emergency response protocols.
- Maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certifications.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; make recommendations regarding assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
