Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us "challenge the status quo" and transform the finance industry together.

The Director, Business Analyst - Digital Asset Operations, will lead operational design and strategic planning across various digital asset initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of traditional financial services and decentralized finance (DeFi) and is responsible for translating product strategy into scalable operating models and detailed delivery road maps - driving requirements formation, optimizing workflows, and partnering closely with product managers, technology, risk/compliance, and operations.

This role is ideal for an operator-strategist who can context-switch between whiteboard and workflow, who understands wallets and on-chain primitives as well as enterprise-grade controls, and who can connect rapidly evolving regulatory realities to operating design. Strong emphasis will be placed on the ability to bridge both Traditional and Decentralized Finance frameworks

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational design and execution

  • Lead the operational design for digital asset initiatives within regulated broker-dealer and/or bank environments, including custody, trading, settlement, payments, clearing, tokenized assets, and related infrastructure.

  • Translate strategic objectives into detailed business requirements, operational workflows, and technical specifications appropriate for regulated environments.

  • Sequence capability roadmaps and dependencies across multiple initiatives while improving operational efficiency, scalability, and risk management.

  • Cross-functional leadership

  • Drive alignment across Product, Technology, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Finance partners.

  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, influence decisions, build consensus, and foster engagement.

  • Strategic insight

  • Provide thought leadership on the convergence of traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi), identifying risks, emerging opportunities, and operational considerations.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years' experience as a Business Analyst, Strategy or Operations role in financial services or fintech; 3+ years in digital assets/blockchain domains.
  • Proven experience leading cross‑functional strategy formation and execution planning in operational functions.
  • Ability to gather insights, synthesize data, identify opportunities, make recommendations and create a plan to deliver world class client experiences.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills, including business requirements, process flows, and technical system interactions.
  • Working knowledge of financial services regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEC, CFTC).
  • Familiarity with wallet architectures (MPC vs HSM, hot/warm/cold), key management, allowlisting, and chain analytics usage.
  • Exposure to custody platforms, institutional wallet providers, compliance tooling, or chain indexing solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and successfully execute multiple initiatives involving multiple stakeholders simultaneously, at times under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Bitcoin, Ethereum/L2s, token standards, stablecoin mechanics, and tokenized deposit flows.
  • Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to engage deeply with engineering teams and understand system architectures and data flows.
  • Experience operating in highly regulated environments while supporting innovation and new product development.
  • Ability to synthesize complex, ambiguous topics into clear, executive‑ready insights and recommendations.
  • Flexibility in adapting to a fluid and rapidly changing environment with a willingness to support ad-hoc tasks where necessary.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
