Job Description

Texas State University is seeking an experienced and strategic Accounts Payable and Travel Director responsible for the overall fiscal integrity, policy formulation, and compliance of the University's disbursement function, while focusing on customer service and process management.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Treasurer, the Director of Accounts Payable and Travel oversees the department and drives the long-term vision for the department's technological ecosystem such as ERP systems, travel and expense platforms and automated workflow solutions. This position plays an integral part in the transition from SAP to Workday. The Director is also responsible for stakeholder engagement, with a key focus on customer service execution while identifying opportunities to increase efficiency.

Foster and align services and develop a long-term strategy and roadmap that supports departmental and organizational goals. Manage and collaborate closely with team members and customers to provide high quality service, anticipate needs, streamline/automate processes and use metrics to assess performance goals.

Job Duties

  • Formulates and interprets university policies regarding disbursements, ensuring strict alignment with State of Texas Comptroller requirements, IRS guidelines and TSUS regulations.
  • Establishes, monitors and tests risk management controls to prevent fraud, overpayments, or audit findings from state authorities.
  • Oversees the operational budget for the AP & Travel department and sets performance metrics (KPIs) for the department.
  • Collaborate with various internal and external entities.
  • Identify and execute process enhancements and staffing efficiencies.
  • Analyze accounting issues, resolve problems in a timely manner and use discretion with sensitive material.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
