Job Summary:
Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities (fiber optic conduit, telecom, etc.) while maintaining safety, accuracy, and production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate HDD rigs (Vermeer, Ditch Witch, etc.)
· Execute bore plans and maintain proper drill path
· Work closely with locator to guide drill head
· Read and interpret utility locates and plans
· Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance
· Ensure safe jobsite operations and compliance
· Maintain production targets (footage per day)
Requirements:
· 3+ years HDD drilling experience
· Strong understanding of bore planning and steering
· Ability to work in varying soil conditions (including cobble)
· CDL preferred
· Strong communication with locator and crew
