As a Direct Tax Analyst, you will play a vital role in ensuring Chewy’s compliance with federal and state tax regulations while contributing to the financial health of the company. What you’ll do:
Process, analyze, and reconcile the federal and state tax return filings and supporting work papers. This includes gathering and analyzing financial information to generate tax returns effectively & efficiently, as well as maintaining supporting work papers and files while providing a clear audit trail to source/support documentation.
Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimated tax payments at the corporate level and for related subsidiaries.
Prepare franchise and gross receipts tax returns, including B&O/ margin/ commercial activity taxes.
Prepare state apportionment schedule (sales, property, and payroll factors).
Support state income tax audits, including preparing and reviewing work papers, responding to information requests, maintaining organized audit files, and assisting with notice resolution.
Prepare and review state-related account reconciliations and assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities for tax accounts. Assist in the overall management and preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision.
Assist with analysis related to return to provision adjustments.
Maintain business license applications for new and existing locations.
Monitor legislative changes in US Federal and State tax laws that may impact the Company’s tax positions, including tax accounting implications.
Work closely with various groups within and outside of the organization (including finance, legal, external auditors, and third-party providers) with respect to a wide array of tax, financing, and operational matters.
Recommending process improvements.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Master's in taxation (MST) from an accredited college/university
3+ years of relevant income tax experience in an accounting firm, corporation, and/or law firm
Proficient with tax software for compliance and provision (OneSource)
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to work effectively on a team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to articulate complex information
Self-motivated with a strong internal drive to learn, a high degree of attention to detail, and the ability to deliver on deadlines.
Proactive in solving problems and innovative in finding solutions.
Bonus:
Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and a working knowledge of ASC 740
Experience with Hyperion SmartView, Oracle ERP
