Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with varying needs, ensuring their well-being and helping them achieve their personal goals. Your work will be instrumental in promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for residents in a group home or community setting.
Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting residents with daily living activities, including personal care and hygiene.
- Observing and documenting patient behavior and progress, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Preparing nutritious meals according to individual dietary needs and preferences.
- Implementing care plans tailored to each resident's unique requirements.
- Supporting residents in social activities and community engagement, fostering a sense of belonging.
- Upholding resident rights and ensuring a clean, safe environment at all times.
- Providing companionship and emotional support to enhance residents' overall well-being.
- Assisting with medication management as required by care plans.
- Changing individuals that are incontinent and/or wheelchair accessible.
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in patient care or home community care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with mental/physical disabilities practices is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of resident rights and advocacy principles.
- Ability to maintain a clean environment conducive to health and safety standards.
- Excellent observational skills to monitor changes in residents' conditions effectively.
- Experience in meal preparation that accommodates individual dietary restrictions is beneficial.
- A compassionate approach with the ability to assist individuals with diverse needs in a respectful manner.
