Job Summary
We are seeking Direct Support Professionals to join our team. In this role, you will make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities by enhancing their quality of life. Responsibilities include providing support to service recipients; to carry out the stated objectives of the program; to maintain compliance with all applicable health, safety and programmatic standards. The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, and reliable.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining positive, professional relationships with individuals, coworkers, supervisors, families, community members, and other outside agency representatives
- Intervene and promptly report all incidents
- Assist individuals with safety during mealtime
- Support the individuals while in the community
- Dispense medication
- Promote individuals rights
- Maintaining individuals health and safety
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a DSP, or similar role is preferred (CNA, PCA, teachers or any medical/mental health care experience)
- Valid Virginia driver’s license (Should be driving for at least 2 years)
- At least a High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to adhere to all health and safety guidelines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to carry out task independently, given verbal or written instructions.
