Job Description: Direct Care Worker
The Direct Care Worker assists clients with personal care and daily living tasks in accordance with individualized care plans. This role requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for those receiving care.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting)
Help with mobility and transfers (e.g., from bed to wheelchair)
Prepare and serve meals based on dietary needs
Administer medication under supervision (if permitted)
Perform light housekeeping tasks (laundry, dishes, cleaning)
Monitor and report changes in client’s physical or mental condition
Provide companionship and emotional support
Accompany clients to appointments or errands, if required
Follow care plans and document daily activities
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (preferred) but not necessary
Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or Personal Care Aide (PCA) may be required (varies by state or employer)
Previous experience in caregiving is a plus
Ability to lift and assist with physical tasks
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
