Dining District Manager (GA, Columbus)

Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations, the District Manager is responsible for the overall management of multiple Dining Service units. Responsible for implementing and maintaining standards and processes leading to the achievement of profitable, highly efficient dining operations, customer retention and overall financial targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the highest level of service and communication with our customer contacts (clients). Responding to all requests and reported issues in a timely manner with proper planning/execution for addressing deficiencies and implementing new initiatives.
  • Maintain highly efficient and profitable food service operations by closely monitoring product, labor, and operating costs. Implementing standards and processes to ensure achievement of budgeted financial goals. Communicating operational improvements to Dining Managers and providing planning and support for proper execution.
  • Facilitates interviewing, onboarding, and implementing training plans for all newly hired Dining Managers for assigned Dining units. Assist Dining Managers in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding process for hourly team members in assigned Dining units.
  • Scheduling frequent meetings with Dining Managers to communicate and update on operational targets/goals, address operational deficiencies, and provide needed support and open communication. Dining Services Directors should assist in developing Dining Managers to further experience and achieve career goals.
  • Monitors sanitation and food handling practices of assigned Dining units and ensures staff compliance with established standards and local health department codes. Dining Services Directors are required to maintain Serv Safe certification.
  • Responsible for financial reporting to Regional Director of Operations and VP of Dining along with corrective planning to improve deficiencies. Ensures all financial reporting is accurate and submitted in a timely manner. Works with the regional controllers to ensure financial reporting accuracy for each period close.
  • Assist in the identification and sales process of potential new business sites; survey of the perspective customer and development of proformas for all Dining service with the VP of Dining Service. Planning and execution for new Dining account openings.
  • Dining Services Director is responsible for ensuring that the Dining teams are providing the highest levels of customer service. Ensuring that the teams are engaging our customers with friendly and positive attitudes.
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Management/Supervisory:

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in food and beverage preferred and/or up to 10 years food service management experience

Language, Communication, and Appearance Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to understand financial statements and take appropriate action to meet financial goals

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to think strategically and plan over a multiple year time span
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Problem analysis and problem solving at a functional and strategic level

  • Technical skills in strategic planning, and food service
  • Strong customer focused orientation
  • Computer proficiency

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Serv Safe Manager Certification is required.

Physical Demands: Position often requires full days working positions in dining locations. Must have the ability to lift as much as 50 pounds. Position may demand standing for long periods.

Work Environment:

Position requires the associate to travel heavily, be subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise. Position is exempt from overtime, involves long hours and widely diverse responsibilities.
