Step onto the floor at 7:00 AM and set the tone for quality

By the time the spindles are humming across our 35 CNC machines in Camarillo, CA, you’ve already walked the cells, checked in with your two Quality Inspectors, and aligned priorities with production. You report to the Director of Manufacturing and support both first and second shift operations—occasionally stretching your day when production demands it.

About us

Since 1967, our 60-person team has crafted precision parts for one of the most recognizable brands in the automotive industry. We operate across three buildings and take pride in a shop-floor culture that treats quality as everyone’s job.

How you’ll spend your time

  • Lead the daily rhythm of the Quality function, overseeing two Inspectors (with growth planned to four).
  • Provide on-the-spot coaching and development for junior quality personnel and shop teammates.
  • Allocate your effort to what matters most:
    • ~20% hands-on inspection and part verification
    • ~50% coaching, mentoring, and frontline support
    • ~30% documentation, reporting, and administrative quality work
  • Perform dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and surface plate methods.
  • Interpret engineering drawings/blueprints and apply GD&T to determine the right inspection approach and tooling.
  • Be the go-to technical resource for machinists—spot issues early and guide teams to produce conforming parts.
  • Support quality activities across multiple buildings, partnering closely with inspectors and production personnel.
  • Write and process Nonconformance Material Reports (NMRs); help drive corrective actions.
  • Contribute to procedures and practices that underpin ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification efforts.
  • Participate in hiring conversations, performance reviews, and overall team development.
  • Model a collaborative, improvement-driven mindset that elevates product quality.

What you bring

  • 3–5 years in quality inspection, quality supervision, machining, or manufacturing (or 10+ years machining with strong inspection expertise).
  • Expert blueprint reading and interpretation of technical drawings.
  • Deep fluency in GD&T.
  • Hands-on proficiency with micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and surface plate inspection.
  • Ability to match features with the right inspection methods and measurement tools.
  • Working knowledge of QMS and standards such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to coach, mentor, and collaborate across functions.

Preferred

  • CMM experience.
  • Prior leadership of quality personnel in a manufacturing setting.
  • Background in aerospace or precision manufacturing.

Who thrives here

You’re equally energized by mentoring people and rolling up your sleeves at the surface plate. You’re approachable, steady under pressure, and committed to building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
