Digital Resource Support Technician Itinerant

Job Title -- Digital Resource Support Technician

Supervised by/Reports to: Principal and Director of Educational Technology and/or designee

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Job Goals:

• To provide excellent technical and helpdesk supports services by performing a variety of skilled and technical duties including installation, repair, alteration, and maintenance of computers, printers, and other peripheral equipment.
• To systematically and accurately inspect, isolate, and diagnose system malfunctions to determine appropriate repair procedures, replace defective parts, and restore equipment to proper operation.
• To efficiently install and configure school system laptops, desktop, and mobile hardware and software.
• Along with the school committee and Educational Technology department, to write, manage, update school technology plan.
• Maintain the school's technology inventory.

Qualifications:

• Two-year technical degree or higher in microcomputer service technology and electronics preferred.
• Knowledge of Apple and Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications and other systems as applicable.
• Technical certification(s) in applicable area of specialty (Apple Certified System Administrator, ACSA, Apple Certified Mac Technician) preferred; ability to acquire such certification(s) as needed.
• A+ certification or the ability to acquire A+ certification within 90 days of employment.
• Two years of computer hardware and data communications equipment installation and maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Ability to conduct and direct research into information and education technology issues/products as required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to relate complex technical concepts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; agility and dexterity needed to stoop, bend, lift/move equipment (computers and/or peripherals, etc.) when necessary and to perform technical equipment inspections and/or repairs, including the inspection of cabling in floors and ceilings.
• Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
• Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
• Advocates, supports, promotes, and communicates all aspects of the Baldwin County School System technology programs, services and initiatives.
• Works within the school system community to promote excellent customer service, effective response times and provide expert insights into general support issues.
• Enforces quality of service guidelines for dealing with customers, completing services, and overall customer satisfaction.
• Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves Level One Technology problems for end users, personal computer software and hardware, district network, the Internet and other technology issues.
• Provides outstanding customer service with efficient, effective, courteous and timely technical support. Respond professionally and competently to all requests.
• Communicates help desk procedures to students, teachers and administrators
• Diagnoses and resolves hardware and software issues.
• Implements plans for replacing and upgrading school computer hardware and software and/or damaged equipment, including, printers, optical scanners, data communications equipment, and other related devices.
• Maintains inventory of laptop computers and equipment as assigned.
• Files and maintains the school's file service protection claims for student and teacher laptops.
• Assists in developing and refining standard help desk procedures.
• Helps design, administer and maintain help desk work order system.
• Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner.
• Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
• Models and maintains high ethical standards.
• Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
• Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
• Participates successfully in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership.
• Serves on school/system committees as required or appropriate demonstrating effective interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
• Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
• Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintains tools, equipment, and parts in good repair; efficiently uses time and system resources.
• Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
• Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by principal and/or supervisor(s).

Terms of Employment: Twelve-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Baldwin County Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
