Position Summary

As part of the Corporate Endpoint Operations team, this role leads the day‑to‑day operation of Parker's global Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) services and related endpoint solutions.

The Digital & IT Team Lead is a "working manager" who provides hands‑on leadership to a distributed team, ensuring consistent, reliable, and secure virtual desktop and application services for users across the globe. While overall strategy, platform selection, and framework decisions are driven by senior leadership, this role translates that strategy into actionable plans, organizes and executes the work, and holds the team accountable for delivery.

Primary responsibility lies within the virtual desktop and application space (Citrix, RDS, Horizon, and the new global standard Dizzion Frame) but may extend into broader Endpoint Operations and end‑user compute. The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, internal IT teams, and external partners to deliver practical, operational solutions that support Parker's global operations.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction

  • Has Direct Reports (small global team, including employees and contractors).

  • Reports to the Enterprise Digital & IT Lead of Endpoint Operations.

  • Works closely with Corporate and Division IT teams globally

  • Interacts regularly with business stakeholders, division IT teams, and external service providers.

Essential Functions

  • Operational Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead a distributed Endpoint VDI team by assigning work, setting clear expectations, and driving accountability for outcomes.

  • Act as a "working manager" who contributes directly to planning, troubleshooting, and execution in addition to people leadership.

  • Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture focused on service quality, continuous improvement, and shared goals.

  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop team members, including mentoring emerging leaders within the team.

  • VDI Operations & Service Delivery

  • Implement and maintain Endpoint VDI systems and services to meet availability, performance, and user experience targets.

  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of VDI platforms (e.g., Citrix, RDS, Horizon, Dizzion Frame) in partnership with technical specialists.

  • Ensure consistent global service delivery for diverse user groups, including contractors and manufacturing floor users.

  • Identify operational risks, recurring issues, and service gaps; drive pragmatic remediation and improvements.

  • Standards, Processes, and Documentation

  • Create, maintain, and enforce standards and operating procedures for Endpoint VDI systems and services.

  • Translate high‑level strategies and architectural guidance from leadership into practical processes, workflows, and team activities.

  • Ensure documentation is accurate, current, and usable by both technical staff and support teams.

  • Project and Program Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and track VDI‑related projects and initiatives, including the migration to Parker's new global VDI standard.

  • Employ appropriate organizational tools to manage project plans, tasks, dependencies, and timelines.

  • Provide clear, concise status reporting on projects, operational issues, and team workload to management and stakeholders.

  • Drive cross‑functional alignment with Corporate & Division IT teams to ensure successful delivery and adoption of VDI solutions.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and align Endpoint VDI capabilities with business needs.

  • Communicate complex technical topics in a clear, business‑oriented manner to non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Provide training materials and education to users and support teams to promote effective use of VDI and endpoint solutions.

  • Deliver presentations on VDI and Endpoint Operations to varying audiences, including technical teams and leadership.

  • Continuous Improvement and Optimization

  • Monitor service performance and user experience; identify trends and opportunities to enhance reliability, usability, and efficiency.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, standardization, and process simplification within Endpoint Operations.

  • Provide recommendations to management regarding personnel, hardware, and software needs to meet current and future demand.

  • Security and Compliance

  • Ensure Endpoint and VDI operations align with Parker's IT security policies and standards.

  • Partner with Cyber Security team to address vulnerabilities, implement appropriate controls, and support audits & compliance as required.

  • Promote security‑by‑design practices within the VDI and endpoint environment.

Person Description (Soft Skills):

  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written form, with the ability to work effectively across cultures, time zones, and organizational levels.
  • Proven people leadership skills with the ability to set direction, delegate effectively, and hold team members accountable while maintaining a supportive environment.
  • Highly organized with strong multi‑tasking and prioritization skills; able to manage concurrent projects, operational activities, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong understanding of IT service delivery, particularly in endpoint and end‑user compute environments.
  • Proven IT analytical and troubleshooting skills with a practical, problem‑solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects of varying length and complexity, including coordinating with distributed teams and external partners.
  • Positive, self‑motivated individual who takes ownership, completes tasks independently, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve team effectiveness.
  • Able to drive continuous improvement of solutions and processes within the area of responsibility, focusing on operational excellence and user experience.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic‑tactical and hands‑on levels, moving between planning, coordination, and detailed execution as needed.

Qualifications

  • University Degree (or international equivalent) required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years' experience within the Information Technology industry required.
  • 5+ years' experience in employee supervision/people leadership required, ideally leading small, distributed teams.
  • 5+ years' experience in VDI or related end‑user compute environments preferred
  • Broad IT infrastructure background and experience strongly preferred (e.g., networking, server/virtualization, storage, identity, endpoint management).
  • Experience managing IT projects and changes in a global environment preferred.
