Dietary Clerk

Summary:

• Accurately assemble patient trays and deliver meals.
• Receive and record dietary orders using the Dietary Management System.
• Assist patients with menu selection.
• Ensure cleaning and sanitation of soiled dishes.
• Restock and service cafeteria, including operation of cash register.

Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with meal selection using the Dietary Management System in coordination with diets as assigned by the Dietician.
• Communicate discrepancies and issues to the Dietician as applicable.
• Accurately assemble and deliver patient and guest trays according to menu selection using proper portion control.
• Pick up trays when the patient is finished and deliver food and beverage orders to other departments.
• Assist in preparation for and delivery of special function orders.
• Serve meals and maintain proper supplies in the cafeteria.
• Run cash register, receive, and count money.
• Operate dish machine and wash dishes, including pots, pans, and carts using proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
• Assist cooks by cleaning vegetables, preparing salads, desserts, and performing various other food prep tasks as needed.
• Maintain regular attendance to carry out the essential functions of the position.
• Review and meet ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform role-specific functions.

Requirements:

• Must be able to work cooperatively and interact with patients, visitors, and employees.
• Make mature judgments and exhibit a high level of customer service skills.
• Stand, stoop, lift moderate weight, push, and pull items.
• Knowledge and understanding of basic nutritional needs.
• Basic understanding of computers and ability to operate a computer on varying levels.

Preferred Skills:

• Customer Service experience.
