Madden Industrial Craftsmen is hiring a skilled Diesel Truck & Trailer Mechanic for our client in NE Portland, OR. This role supports fleet maintenance and repair operations, with a strong focus on DOT-compliant service and bumper-to-bumper diagnostics on trucks and trailers. Pay & Schedule
•Pay: $32–$37/hour (DOE)
•Shift: Swing shift, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
• Temp to Perm Opportunity
What You’ll Do
•Perform full bumper-to-bumper maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and trailers
•Complete DOT Annual Vehicle Inspections in compliance with state and federal regulations
•Diagnose and repair steering, suspension, and drivetrain systems (brakes, differentials, drivelines, wheel ends)
•Troubleshoot and repair low-voltage electrical systems
•Service and repair air brake (pneumatic) systems
•Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems (cylinders, PTOs, valves, pumps)
•Perform basic engine and transmission troubleshooting, including clutch replacement
•Accurately complete written and electronic work orders
•Assist with general shop, yard, and facility upkeep as needed
•Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
What You Bring (Required)
•Minimum 2 years of diesel truck/trailer maintenance experience
•Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
•Working knowledge of DOT compliance and inspections
•Ability to maintain vehicles to state and federal DOT standards
•Experience operating vehicles up to Class 8 trucks
•Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
•Personal toolbox with adequate tools
•Basic computer skills and good documentation habits
Nice to Have (Preferred)
•Vocational training or technical certification in diesel/heavy equipment repair
•Experience with diagnostic software (Cummins Insite, Detroit DDEC, CAT ET)
•CDL (Class A, B, or C)
•Engine rebuilding experience
•Welding or fabrication skills
