Skilled Trades Partners is partnering with a well-established and growing heavy civil/sitework contractor to hire an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Technician for their Lakeville, MA operation. This is a permanent, direct hire opportunity with a company that maintains a large fleet of construction equipment supporting commercial, utility, excavation, and site development projects throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

We're seeking a hands-on mechanic who can confidently diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment while helping keep a busy fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and undercarriage components
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service on heavy construction equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize equipment downtime
  • Service and repair equipment including:
    • Excavators
    • Dozers
    • Wheel Loaders
    • Skid Steers
    • Rollers
    • Other heavy construction equipment
  • Conduct equipment inspections and identify maintenance needs before failures occur
  • Complete repair orders, service records, and maintenance documentation
  • Assist with field service repairs and emergency breakdowns as needed
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment
  • Follow all company safety policies and manufacturer service procedures

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain components
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy construction equipment
  • Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • CDL license is a plus but not required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities
