We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team in Asheville, NC. The ideal candidate will have strong experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered equipment, trucks, trailers, and heavy construction machinery. This position plays a critical role in ensuring fleet reliability, safety compliance, and operational uptime.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on diesel trucks, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software
- Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, steering components, and fuel systems
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, sensors, and electronic control modules (ECMs)
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and parts usage logs
- Respond to emergency repair needs in the field when necessary
- Inspect equipment for operational readiness and identify potential mechanical failures proactively
- Collaborate with operations and fleet management teams to minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Technical school or diesel mechanic certification preferred
- 3+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred
- Experience working on heavy trucks, utility equipment, construction equipment, or fleet vehicles
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics
- Experience using OEM diagnostic software and scan tools preferred
- Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying outdoor conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Experience
- CAT, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, International, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, or Volvo equipment experience
- Utility construction or heavy civil construction industry experience
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Experience maintaining trailers, compressors, generators, and support equipment preferred
