The Die Cut Assistant Operator is the responsible for feeding material at the die cut machine; assisting the machine operator with set up, utility, and quality tasks; and performing machine-operating tasks as directed by the machine operator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations

  • Load roll at /roll stand and set up splice/quick change to maintain production rate.
  • Use process specific material handling equipment (electric pallet jack/ manual pallet jack, powered industrial truck, overhead crane) to transfer pallets/rolls of material.
  • Use machine controls to operate machine either independently by performing authorized operating tasks in the absence of a machine operator or as directed by the machine operator to start, stop, or to make adjustments.
  • Use RF scanner to scan transactions to the Warehouse Management System and use Warehouse Management System and to generate labels.

Quality Control

  • Inspect material/rolls at feeder section for defects and to ensure conformance to customer and product specifications.

Support

  • Assist the operator with changeovers, machine set up, and machine adjustments as required based on product requirements.
  • Assist the operator with operating and troubleshooting machine problems at die cut machine to maintain the production process and run machine at established rate.

Reporting and Record-keeping

  • Record data on specified forms and complete required line documentation.

Maintenance

  • Perform housekeeping and machine sanitation tasks to maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Compliance/other tasks

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including GMP, PPE, HACCP, and JSA regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sold.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use and operate process specific material handling equipment (manual/electric pallet jack, powered industrial truck, overhead crane) and moisture meter. Ability to use RF scanner for WMS transactions.
  • Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, internal quality procedures, and machine operating procedures.
  • Ability to communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and others in work area.
  • Basic mathematics (i.e. counting), basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or trade school preferred.

Experience

  • 1+ year of equivalent experience or experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced work environment.

Work Environment

  • Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes are required. In addition, task specific PPE may be required.
  • Our Manufacturing plant is not environmentally controlled. Changes in humidity and temperature occur throughout the year.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to continuously use hands and fingers to position items and arms to reach as needed.
  • Able to frequently bend, move about the work area.
  • Able to occasionally remain in a stationary position, ascend and descend steps, push and pull objects.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Lifting 50 pounds occasionally.
