Qualifications
Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to four years in the specific specialty area in which the position will be working.

The Tennessee Department of Human Services is announcing a vacancy for a DHS Vocational Trainer in the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Area of Study. This position is housed within the Division of Rehabilitation Services and plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center in Smyrna. The DHS Vocational Trainer is instrumental in preparing TRC students for successful employment by delivering hands-on vocational instruction in a high-demand healthcare pathway.
This position serves as an instructor, mentor, and guide for adult learners with a wide range of learning abilities as they work toward completing CNA training and preparing for the state certification exam and evaluation. The DHS Vocational Trainer develops curriculum, creates lesson plans aligned with industry and Board of Health standards, and fosters a supportive, structured classroom environment where students can build the technical and interpersonal skills essential for workplace success. This role also provides direct support during clinical experiences, ensuring students receive consistent guidance as they apply their training in real-world settings.
