Job Summary
Performs professional work providing a broad range of teaching services or specific learning program assisting students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed as a foundation for future learning in accordance with each students ability using a variety of teaching and learning methods at various levels to a targeted audience and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the principal and director of special education. Occasional oversight is exercised over Paraprofessional. Licensed Teachers also participate and collaborate with other instructional professionals, administrators, parents, counselors, and other district personnel concerning student needs, issues, and district learning initiatives, curriculum, and building issues.
In this role as a DAPE teacher, she/he will provide special education instruction for students that includes development of physical fitness, motor fitness, fundamental motor skills, and patterns, individual and group games, and sports. The teacher will participate in and conduct portions of the evaluations and observations to determine special education eligibility of students placed in the program and conduct periodic assessments to determine educational progress of the students. The teacher will assist in developing Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives and participates in IEP meetings for students in the program.
Candidates with DAPE licensure will be given preference, but those with a physical education (PE) licensure will be considered as well.
