As a Development Order Plan Reviewer, you will play an important role in reviewing new development projects, ensuring they follow transportation standards, and helping guide growth in our community.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, organization, teamwork, and working in a setting where your work helps improve roads, safety, and mobility for everyone in Lee County. Duties and Responsibilities

What You Will Do

Plan Review & Technical Support Review development order plans, drawings, and applications. Evaluate site plans, roadway designs, traffic reports, drainage, and stormwater plans. Check plans for compliance with transportation, engineering, zoning, and comprehensive plan requirements. Provide written comments to applicants about changes or clarifications needed. Explain codes, procedures, and application status when needed.

Team & Developer Coordination Work closely with DOT staff and Community Development (DCD) staff during the development review process. Meet with developer teams to discuss transportation needs and project impacts. Support DOT staff reviewing transportation impacts for minor County rezoning requests. Provide back-up support for the Right-of-Way (ROW) program and assist with related tasks as assigned.

Customer Service & Communication Communicate clearly with applicants, engineers, and internal staff. Help maintain positive relationships with development partners and County teams. Provide timely updates and respond to questions about reviews.

Education, Experience, Licensing

What We're Looking For

High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Four (4) years of experience in development review, construction, engineering, or related work such as: Reviewing construction or development plans Roadway or site construction Surveying or inspection work Engineering technician support Transportation planning or traffic operations support Stormwater or drainage review Land development or zoning assistance Public works or municipal infrastructure work

Additional Requirements

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

Knowledge of the Lee County Land Development Code. Familiarity with Florida DOT (FDOT) standards and design specifications. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

Supplemental Information

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
