Position Summary


The Development Director is responsible for supporting the mission, financial stability, and long-term sustainability of House of Hope through ethical, strategic, and compliant fundraising and grant development efforts. This position plays a key role in securing public and private funding, strengthening donor relationships, and ensuring responsible stewardship of contributed resources.


The Development Director works under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer to plan, implement, and monitor a comprehensive annual fundraising and development strategy aligned with organizational priorities, funder requirements, and governance standards.


Essential Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer to develop, implement, and evaluate the annual fundraising and development plan
  • Research, write, submit, and manage grant proposals and funding requests to individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies
  • Identify, analyze, and recommend grant opportunities at the local, state, and federal levels, including public and private funding sources
  • Manage all aspects of the grant lifecycle, including applications, deadlines, compliance monitoring, reporting, renewals, and closeout documentation
  • Ensure adherence to grant requirements, reporting deadlines, and funder guidelines to maintain organizational accountability and funding eligibility
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, community partners, and agency alumni in alignment with organizational values
  • Support development-related communications, including newsletters, annual reports, and fundraising materials
  • Develop and maintain a digital fundraising strategy, including online and social media engagement, as organizational resources allow
  • Plan and support fundraising and special events, as needed and subject to available resources
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential donor, prospect, and grant records to support reporting, audits, and governance review
Education & Experience


Education


  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred in Business, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
Experience


  • Minimum of 1 year of grant writing experience (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional development or fundraising experience (required)
  • Experience in a behavioral health or human services setting preferred
Skills & Qualifications


  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Publisher
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and documentation abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple funding priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with accountability and discretion
  • Professional demeanor with strong attention to accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical standards
Work Environment & Schedule


  • In-person position (remote work is not available)
  • Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for fundraising or special events
  • Light physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally
