Development Director – Consultant (Maternity Leave Cover)
Pay Rate: $75–$150/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Hybrid: 1 day remote, 4 days onsite)
Contract Duration: Through February (Maternity Leave Coverage Assignment)
Position Overview
Seeking a highly experienced Development Director – Consultant to provide interim coverage during a maternity leave assignment. This role supports senior-level development operations, fundraising strategy, donor relations, and cross-functional coordination for a mission-driven charitable organization focused on catalytic capital and collaborative funding models.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in nonprofit development, fiscal sponsorship environments, CRM management (Salesforce), and executive/board-level reporting. This role requires a strategic thinker who can maintain continuity of donor relationships, pipeline activity, and internal development operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support business development and onboarding of new funding opportunities and partnerships
- Support senior leadership with fundraising strategy, pipeline management, and development reporting
- Prepare and maintain board-level, executive, and donor-facing materials
- Identify, assess, and track funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
- Build and maintain long-term donor, partner, and stakeholder relationships
- Manage CRM systems (Salesforce), ensuring accurate tracking of gifts, opportunities, and communications
- Coordinate donor communications, grant reporting, and stewardship activities
- Track deliverables, payments, and project milestones across internal teams
- Collaborate with communications teams on branding, messaging, and external engagement strategy
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure continuity and institutional knowledge
- Provide operational support to ensure smooth execution of development workflows during coverage period
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in development, fundraising, donor relations, or business development
- Strong experience in nonprofit, foundation, or fiscal sponsorship environments preferred
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce strongly preferred)
- Experience preparing executive, board-level, and donor-facing reports
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, senior-level environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with cross-functional teams
