Incorporated in 1965, Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation (JFCAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to assisting low-income individuals, and families, achieve self-sufficiency through quality programs in Jefferson and Franklin Counties. We are a federal, state, and locally funded Community Action Agency.
JFCAC offers a variety of impactful programs for eligible individuals, from rental and utility assistance to home upgrades that improve energy efficiency and creates safer living environments.
To carry out our mission and expand our impact, we are seeking a dedicated professional to step into a vital role within our Agency - The Development Coordinator. This is an in-office position, located in Hillsboro, Missouri.
A Development Coordinator in a Community Action setting is responsible for helping the Agency secure and sustain funding while developing, strengthening, and expanding community impact and awareness. This role exists to ensure the Agency can fund its programs (through grants and partnerships), serve the community effectively, and increase awareness of services and their impact.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Coordinator is responsible for leading the Agency's grant development strategy while strengthening community relationships and overseeing external communications. This position ensures the organization maintains sustainable funding through effective grant management and enhances visibility through strategic outreach and marketing efforts.
The role supervises a Marketing & Communications Specialist who is responsible for day-to-day content creation, social media management, and execution of marketing initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Development & Management (50-60%)
Research, identify and evaluate public and private grant opportunities aligned with Agency priorities
Lead the development, writing and submission of high-quality grant proposals
Coordinate with program staff to gather data and develop compelling narratives and budgets
Manage grant calendars, deadlines and reporting requirements
Ensure compliance with all grant terms and conditions
Maintain accurate grant tracking systems and documentation
Build and maintain relationships with funders, including follow-up communication and reporting
Community Engagement & Partnerships (20-25%)
Represent the Agency at community meetings, events and partner engagements
Develop and strengthen relationships with local stakeholders, partners and funders
Identify opportunities to expand community awareness and participations in agency programs
Support program teams in outreach strategies and partnership development
Promote the Agency's mission, services and impact within the community
Communications & Marketing Oversight (15-25%)
Provide strategic direction for Agency communications, branding and messaging
Develop and oversee the communications calendar, including campaigns, newsletters and announcements
Supervise the Marketing & Communications Specialist who:
Creates marketing materials and graphics
Manages social media platforms and posting schedules
Maintains the website and digital content
Review and approve content to ensure consistency with branding and agency mission and goals
Identify opportunities to highlight program successes, client impact stories, and agency milestones
Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies to improve reach and effectiveness
Supervisory
Directly supervise the Marketing & Communications Specialist
Provide guidance, feedback and performance management
Set clear priorities and ensure timely execution of marketing and communications deliverables
Ensure alignment between communication efforts and agency strategy
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, or related field
Equivalent experience may be considered
3 - 5 years experience in grant writing, communications, or community engagement
Proven success in securing grant funding
Strong writing, editing and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task, manage priorities and multiple project and meet hard deadlines
Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Willing to submit to Criminal Background Screenings

Starting Pay $25.61 per hour (based on education & experience), bi-weekly pay
