We are seeking an experienced Developer / Programmer Analyst Specialist to support a Texas state agency in Austin. This role focuses on building and enhancing web-based applications in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in ColdFusion, Oracle databases, and full lifecycle application development.

What You’ ll Do
  • Develop design documents and SQL-driven screen prototypes based on user requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to present prototypes and gather feedback
  • Build and enhance web-based applications using ColdFusion
  • Develop module specifications, unit tests, and system/integration test plans
  • Implement applications in iterative development cycles with user validation
  • Create flowcharts, models, and technical designs
  • Develop and maintain program documentation and user guides
  • Perform acceptance testing and support production releases
  • Ensure applications meet accessibility standards (including screen readers)
  • Work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in software development or systems analysis
  • Strong experience with ColdFusion (including Fusebox methodology)
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and SQL
  • Experience developing applications using Oracle databases (PL/SQL, tables, triggers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of web application security and secure coding practices
  • Experience with data modeling, ER diagrams, and UI design
  • Understanding of database concepts such as normalization and referential integrity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience generating PDF documents within ColdFusion applications
  • Familiarity with W3C standards and accessibility requirements
  • Experience working in multi-developer, version-controlled environments
  • Background supporting government or large enterprise systems
